Default Axxis Ultimates question...

I recently installed ITR calipers on my GS-R and i finally got a chance to drive it. I am using Axxis Ultimates, but i have no shims on them. Do i need them? I did not put an grease on them either...

Don't worry abou the shims, you don't need it. I run mine with no shims too.
Axxis Ultimate is quite (even w/o shims).

Ok, but when i was driving it, the brakes were smoking. I felt the rubber on the outside of the pad, and it was soft. I did not put any of the grease on, but the pads/rotors are new so maybe thats the cause?

Yup...those smoke was cause by grease or some form oil on your new rotor (they put those on to prevent rust). No need to worry.....they will disappear once you put more mileage on.

remember to take some time to "break-in" you new rotor and the brake pad before you give full force.

You are susposed to wipe off the rotor with paint thinner before you install them to get all of that grease off of them, and then you won't have any problems.

And make sure you bed the pads in correctly.

exactly. You shouldn't have a problem without the shims.
