Default driving with warped rotors?

Hey guys. I recently have concluded that my front right brake assembly is messed up. I believe one of the pins is sticking or maybe the piston. (dont know much about brakes, just started reading)

so anyways I felt the inner part of my rotor yesterday night and it has some pretty noticable grooves in it. I want to order some brembo blanks, but i need the car to drive right now. Will I mess anything up further by fixing the stuck pin now, putting new pads on, and leaving the warped rotor on until I get the blanks in?

Thanks much

As far as I know you will just wear out the pad faster and unevenly, but you'll need new pads with the new rotors anyway. That's my insight but I suggest waiting for more from people with more experience in these kinds of situations.

I wouldn't advise throwing new pads on that rotor unless you want to buy pads twice. You can do it but like previously stated you will wear that pad terribly fast.

Make sure when you do the brakes that you lubricate the slides with silicone and that they are free moving before reassembling the brakes. good luck

thanks for the quick responses. do i use silicon grease or high temp bearing grease? I was reading some other brake threads and some were suggesting high temp bearing grease. Not sure if it makes much of a difference, I would rather use whatever the factory recommends for this app

If I had to guess, some might prefer a different lube if they really beat on their car (such as Auto-X). And though I don't know what the OEM recommendation is, that is what you probably want to go with.

Silicone grease, they should actually give you some with the brake pads in the box.

okay. So i went to honda and i had to order the part and it's not going to be in until tomorrow. I guess I decided that I am just going to get some replacement rotors from schucks (auto parts store). is there anything wrong with replacing only the rotor that is warped, and keeping the other one or will that mess anything up?

thanks again for the help.

I dont see why you would mess anything up by just replacing the bad one since the other is fine.

You can, but from my experience Civic rotors are pretty cheap and easy to replace. If you're having trouble with one slide pin on one side, it would make me wonder about the other one. Changing both would give you a chance to lube both pins and gain some piece of mind.
