Default OT: Illinois/Chicago ITR owners

Hey y'all.. this is kinda off topic, but I have a question about registering cars in Illinois.. I live in Maryland, but my parents are moving from Missouri to Illinois(rural) and were thinking of going ahead and moving their vehicle registrations over since they already have bought the land..

we had heard that they do not perform vehicle safety inspections there, is this true? Meaning, modifications don't matter when registering a car there? how about emissions inspections?

If this is true, I might move my registration with theirs, so as to avoid MD's not so mod friendly laws.. any info you could provide would be great.. thanks!

Different countys in Illinois have different emission laws. Some test and some don't. Need to contact the emission department and find out which one you live in.

Also, if your car is odb2 and throwing no codes, you do not need to get on the rollers(thats assuming that you live in an area that checks emissions)

EDIT> http://www.epa.state.il.us/air/vim/ should have all your answers

btw, your welcome

Yep.. i live in mid-maryland.. moved here after college to work.. but yeah, if/when I go back to the STL metro area, i'd definitely meet up with the midwest R people.. until then, registering my R in IL might just be an easy way around MD's stricter modification laws..

thanks for the info!
