Default problems with jdm S1 transmission

problem 1: Hard to go into 1st gear ONLY when the engine is warmed up and been driving for a while. This started happening when I but in an Exedy clutch. So I'm thinking i received a shitty clutch. Anyone have problems with exedy clutches?

problem 2: Fourth gear starting to grind when i shift normally. but if i let the RPM drop as low as it will go and then shift, it goes in gear OK.

What do you guys think??

Problem with 4th is def synchronizers since it is RPM related. The 1st gear problem I'm not so sure about since it is related to engine temp(or trans temp as they are related). What kind of oil do you have in it and what is the outside temp where you live right now? Do you have trouble going into 1st only when gearing down or when at a dead stop? A shitty clutch would not cause problems only in 1 gear.

theres like 40 posts a week that go like this

My xxxx trans grinds xxxx gear someone tell me whats wrong because I'm a lazy pos that can't do a seacrh.

Here's what you do put xxx mystery oil in it.

When that doesn't work tear it apart and rebuild it.

Fortunately (for you), my friend just had the same problem. He changed oil and the throwout bearing, clutch looked fine. Ended up being the clutch cable. Is yours new? If it is, check the length (he replaced his and it was too long). If not, time to buy a new one. It was an odd problem, since it only happened once the car heated up too. Otherwise, is the bracket on the tranny bent? Just giving some ideas.

later, Overkll
