2 questions:

1. what causes gears to grind in the 5th gen accords typically?

2. mine seems to do it when i rev around 5500 rpms from 1st to 2nd gears. it does not grind any other gears though so it confuses me very much. i dont beat on the car but if i have to punch it off the fly ill rev it high from 1st to second. thats when it grinds. i am scared!

some advice/education would be greatly appreciated.

it is most likely your synchro's. does it do it if you go: 1-3-2 ?

 

maybe need to get your clutch and flywheel looked at also it woudl do that is you change the clutch and not reface the flywheel ... crazy **** huh .. anyway quik fix don't rev up that high

 

I second carolinaAccord - not uncommon for synchros to go

 

how much for the repair on the synchros do you know?

so what are we talking $$$$ to fix the synchros issue > my bud at honda told me its not worth it > he can be a dick tho so i dont really trust him ??
