cluth engagement noise
i have a 98 accord sedan 5spd 4cyl. i have a cat-back and an aem intake. lately, when the car is cold, the clutch makes a squeaky humming like noise while it is being engaged. very high pitched. it isn't engaging weird. it feels normal. but the noise bothers me. it usually goes away after driving a few miles. is this normal or is my car about to blow up.
Sounds like it might be your throwout bearing, it's the bearing that is the interface between the release fork and the pressure plate. Mine has been doing that and just recently quit but will need to be replaced eventually. However my '91 "only" has 194K on it so i hope it holds out until I need a clutch or a different car

is it a terminal problem. it doesn't happen if i drive slow for the first 5-10 minutes after it's been sitting a while. how serious/expensive is this?
the part itself is only 30-40bucks. You need to remove/reinstall the tranny to install it, however.
