Default fuel pressure question for guys with fp gauges

ok guys once you turn your key and the pump turns on,your pressure usually rises.what happens to your pressure if you dont start your car?does the pressure drop even though you have your key turned or does it stay presurized?

mine drops back down to zero.I believe there is still fuel pressure there (actually i know).why it doesn't register i don't know.Because if you were to unscrew the banjo nut on your fuel filter you would get sprayed with fuel (go ahead ask how i know ).
