Default GSR vs LS Crank

Besides the stroke, are there any differences between the GSR and LS cranks? I know the LS stroke is a little longer, but is the VTEC crank stronger?

I’m planning a build up, and I was wondering if a little more stroke would be worth the sacrifice in R/S ratio.

FWIW, I have a GSR block that I plan to sleeve to 85mm. It will get the head from my B16, and I’m also planning to go with a JRSC at 8psi. I know there are a lot of other parts to add, but this is a question about the crank, not the whole build up.

You are gonna have to spin that blower extremely fast to get 8 psi on a 2 liter VTEC block.

Go with the Ls crank. You can spin that plenty high ad still pull plenty of power up top. Id be more worried about he blower keeping up and keeping the intake temps from going through the roof.

The ls and gsr cranks are both strong. You won't have to worry about breaking either. As for which one to use, it depends how high you want to rev. The ls crank will make more torque and peak earlier but won't have the pull past 8k like the gsr crank will. It really comes down to your application and what you want out of the motor. Being supercharged, you probably don't need to rev too high so i would use the ls crank. It will have a little better powerband for a street car. The sacrifice in rod ratio isn't gonna kill you at 8krpm. If you were reving to 10k it would be a different story.

Yes, I didn't consider that. 2L is the target, but maybe I should rethink the JRSC part.

My primary focus is autocross, not drag. I would really like to get to 230-250 to the wheels, but I want it to be usable on the autocross course. I also want to shoot for a redline around 8.5k.

Any suggestions as to which way I should research? Maybe I would be better off with a small turbo? Maybe I don’t need that much HP for autocross?

I want to make a plan before I really do anything, but now I’m not sure.
