When using an electronic boost controller, is there any reason you couldn't run a wastgate spring with a really low pressure rating with high boost like 20 psi? Someone is saying that "it's not a good idea," but I don't see why it would matter given how a boost controller works.

I've heard the same thing. It's not the right way to do it, but haven't heard why

Maybe its not good for the boost controller to "hold" that much pressure?

I would like to know too, not that I will ever boost that much, just something to know I guess.

depends on the wastegate and the boost controller. with an 8 lb spring on a hks or smaller tial, and a greddy tvvc for instance, i was maxed out at around 23 lbs. it varies but its true, the smaller the spring, the less psi you max out at(Boost).
