i want to purchase eg for my daily driver car. but the car that i want to purchase doesnt have engine right now so i,m planning to drop a b16a on it and i want to know how much you guys pay for the labor and the engine thanks

Labor can range you anywhere from $500 - $1000 depending on who you know. Could be cheaper I suppose, but it might be a little harder to find anything cheaper than that.

Osaka is great, I am going to purchase my motor from there, and I haven't really heard any horror stories from there, B18C1 for 2700 can't ask for anything more

 

cmon man this is almost 2003 who pays for swaps anymore

 

How else do you get the engine in the car? Not everyone is a certified Honda mechanic...

I cant change the oil in a ford, but I can do any Honda/acura swap.

Certify that.....

My 5 year old sister with narcolepsy, one arm, crosseyes, and HADD can do a swap. And so can you.

One time I did a swap with handtools in a winn dixie parking lot. So dont tell me you have no place to do one.

I think it's harder to drop the tranny than it is to put a whole engine in =P

extra lil parts 100-500
300-500 for a swap

 

Uhhh, a from BELOW swap where you lower the car onto the motor, or from above.

I don't think a motor lift or jackstands qualify for "hand tools".

somewhere around 1800 is a pretty reasonable price...but usually if your lucky i sometimes see them for for about 1200 or less....check around like recycler.com and stuff...

 

guys do it right the first time and order your motors from IAS (import auto salvage), so you dont get jipped on crappy parts/missing. I know I am kicking myself a little for buying my swap and having missing parts!!

 

I hear SOHFAST might have some stolen motors......any truth to this?...or is this old info?

don't pay more then:
1.5l sohc vtec VTI + LSD tranny + HKS header, all parts =>under $800US

1.6l DOHC VTEC B16A + LSD tranny + rsr header, all parts for swap =>under $2200

1.8l DOHC VTEC B18C (GSR) + LSD tranny + all parts =>under $3200

to swap it $400-600 but not much more
