Default brake light?

hi.. im posting about my mom's 98 Accord Sedan LX..
wuts happening is that the brake light on the guage cluster stays on after she starts the car for approx.. 15 minutes.. her hand brake is indeed down and she notices no braking problems.. does anyone know what may cause this?

CHeck the fluid level. Also for some reason my 93 had issues when it would get cold out, the float would somehow get stuck and the light would come on, but there was nothing wrong with the brakes. Actually tell her to start the car and you just turn the lid and see if the light goes off.

Pull of the fluid cap and make sure that rubber piece is sitting right, sometimes it gets out of shape and gets in the way of the float

the e-brake light on the dash is triggered by a sensor that is directly under the e-brake lever. I'm willing to bet that switch has gone bad and is sticking. pull the center console up around the e-brake, locate the switch, and give it a shot of wd-40. that should do it.

the swithc is attached to a green wire if i remember correctly.
