I installed new headlights on my 2002 Accord and the projection bulbs keep blowing. I've been through 4 sets of bulbs already. If anyone knows why or how to stop this i would really appreciate it. When I installed them i didnt change any fuses I wasnt sure if I had to or not. If you can help Thank you.

 

from what i understand, the natural oils from your hand cause them to blow out. What happens when you handle them is that the oil spots become focal points for 'hotter spots' on the bulb. And this is what causes them to fail eventually.

 

You understand 100% accurately. They usually fail sooner than later too. When you handle them use tissue paper or thin cotton gloves so you don't contact the glass.

thank you for your reply. I do know not to touch the bulbs and i havent. On one of the bulbs the power wire melted the rubber covering so im wondering if to much power is going to the lights.

 

its a known fact that projector bulbs blow out faster than regular halongen bulbs(i.e. 9006 or h4 bulbs)..plus the light output sucks.

 

even if you dont touch the bulb, with the nature of the projection headlight, the heat put out by the bulb has less area to spread out than standard headlights so the bulb gets super-heated and blows out. If you are using higher than a 65 watt bulb, you should chage it to prevent blowing them.

 

enlight me please..what the heckis projection blubs?
that is for like headlight right?

 

H3 bulbs....the kind used in fog lamps

i dont know what kind are used for the hid projectors though
