Because I swear I notice a small difference after I tank up. If I floor it, the car "seems" to pull harder and smoother. I heard a rumor that when the car gets to empty, it will automatically use less gas to prevent you from runnig out. Less gas would be less power. I was told this by several people when asking what is the best tank level to run at the track. Am I right or am I crazy?

I feel the TOTAL opposite.

Less fuel = less weight >>>>> faster

the only reason this might happen is when your low on gas and the fuel pump is "out of water" it tends to get warm, when you have a fresh tank of gas its usaully cold (deep with in the ground) so that cool of the fuel pump and could provide a extra psi or two.

(All this is a Might)
This is a reason to never run low on gas either...

It seems I run best anywhere from 1/4 to 1/2 tank. Anything lower and it just seems too low on gas. Like it kinda chokes a little getting gas.

I think the added weight of a full tank just makes the VTEC crossover feel more abrupt, fooling you into feeling "faster".

Note that almost all autocrossers I know of run their ITRs at the point just before the low fuel light comes on.

That's what I do and I don't notice any power difference.

I've heard that we should have as much gas in as possible, to help the wieght distribution. Could this be true?

My car always seems quicker when its right near empty. Gas is heavy, i try to only have as much as i need and rarely ever have it full.... Maybe im just a cheapass.

i feel the same way. when i fill my car up, it feels rejuvinated.

but maybe thats because my cheapskate *** waits until it's almost..or at 'E' before i go to the gas station

It only feels faster because i WOT it alot more when i got plenty of fuel. When it's low i usually never dare to touch it. So i always feel better when i'm not low. I'm paranoid about being stranded on the road..

shell optimax + NOS!

maybe it might be cos ur old engine fuel been rotting in ur car..lol
chemicals inside prolly settling....when its mixed, maybe the extra octane/booster particles can still get used

afta awhile might settle down at bottom..waste.....

usually fill it up when its at a 1/4 of a tank or a bit lower, and bring it up to like 1/2-3/4. hehe, us nitpicky r drivers.

letting the fuel level get low and stay low, is that rough on the fuel pump?
