Default does this mean trouble on a turbocharged car?

i've been boosting for two weeks now and haven't had any problems with it until yesterday.

i was driving up a not-so-steep road and i didn't bother to shift down coz i thought i already had some speed going so i was in 4th gear at 3k rpm. i step on the gas but it didn't pull hard coz of wrong gear. when i was finally down the road there was some traffic , i then notice that when i accelerated from a stop, the car move slow like some giant hand holding the car (lag) but when i reach about 2.5k rpm it moves freely, then when i shifted to second it does just that again. it happens on every stop i made until i park my car. then when i drive back home at night it's ok again.

today, i went up that not-so-steep road again but this time i was in 3rd gear at 3k rpm. it climbs up without any problem or power lose but when i came down it lags again just like yesterday BUT NOW, i also notice that when moving from a slow traffic, the tach needle stays at about 1100rpm to 1300rpm for about 3 seconds AFTER i took my feet off the gas pedal and preparing to stop. not just the tach needle stays up there but also the engine sound that correspond to that rpm. so i don't think the tach needle is screwed.

since i'm fairly new at turbo, have any of you guys experience this or have some knowledge about it?

it doesn't throw any CEL, i checked the vacuum hoses and other hoses, i checked for leaks or any thing visibly broken but i can't find any problem.

by the way, the car is a '99 SiR with a t-28 turbo at 6 psi but i'm experiencing boost creep to 9 psi coz of internal wastegate. i'm using fmu and stock fuel pump and stock injectors for fuel, i have a bosch inline which is yet to be installed. i'm using a synapse map bypass link for the MAP sensor. i'm also using stock ignition.

any info will be greatly appreciated.

That is odd.

Sounds more like a faulty injector or a fuel pump problem. Pull your plugs and read their state. Lean, rich etc.

At first it sounds like you jumped a tooth on your timing belt...hsppend on my all motor hatch, and had same symptoms, barely would get moving then once you did it was kinda ok.....but yours only does it sometimes so its not that...

so i agree with randy, fuel/wiring/load problem

Sounds more like fuel lag than turbo lag. Get that inline in there and I bet the problem will go away. Also, did you install a new cap 'n rotor and plugs that are two steps colder?

i think i'm running kinda lean coz when i take the spark plugs off, cyl #1 - #3 are colored dark brown while cyl# 4 has a little white stains. unlike when i was still in stock form the plugs are black which indicates rich. that's why i haven't let the engine reach redline without the fuel pump.

i can't find any 7series spark plug here in the philippines and having it ship from US will cost an arm and a leg so right now i just bought the 6 series BKR6E-11 and will be installing it later tonight when i get home from work. would the 6 series do?

today, it didn't lag when i came down from that not-so-steep road but the 3-second delay for the engine to reach normal idle after i took my foot off the gas was still there.

i guess i have to install the inline pump and see what happens next.

by the way, is the BKR6E-11 one degree colder than stock? just want to make sure. thanks.

Look no further because this is your problem. The stock fuel pump will and cannot support the high fuel pressures from an FMU. Get that inline pump in there asap.
