Basically, you paint it black.... One light coat.

I did that with my drag intercooler...I covered the fins with masking tape, then used a very thin coat of flat black paint...You could hardly tell if there's an intercooler. Nice sleeper look

I painted mine black and it was simple. I just covered the fins with tape and gave it like two coats of black spray paint that was for metal (dont remember the name) and then one layer of clear coat. I did it about 4 months ago and it still looks great and cleans up very easily. I'll get some pics if I can.

Is there a reason why no one has had an intercooler anodized yet? Why not get it anodized black instead of painting it..?? !!

Yea, my brother took his bling-bling Trust type 24, laid it out on some cardboard, and hit it with a light coat of flat black paint. The intercooler is HUGE and you can't even see it in his 94 Si hatch...ultra sleeper... IMO, this is the way to do it. Avoid trolls, and stunnaz...

some people say that painting the fins will keep the intercooler from transfering heat properly. I dont think it makes that much difference, but you cant really tell even if you do paint the fins, looks about the same either way.

I will be turning my new PWR intercooler black. Im doing it right though.....getting it black anodized. Check around, I thought it was gonna be expensive but Im getting it done locally for the small fee of $50.
I will have pics in the next week or two.

I wouldnt say that using spray paint isnt the right way to do it. The way you are doing it will be a little better, but if a can of spray paint does the job, why not? I would take the extra $50 and save it for some fun stuff.....

Don't just use regular black paint.

There is a coating called Thermal Dispersant which actually disperses heat away from the component thats coated with it. It is black, baked on, and it looks good I remember someone posting it a while back... me searchin' for it

Here ya go, check this link out. There had to be alot of trimming done, but it fills up the front of the car beautifully. I'd post the pic, but I'm a moron.

just mask off the fins, spray it down. and if you must paint the fins, give em a light coat.

regular spray paint will work ok - but take note, it will peel.
