Default Clutch install problem

Hello, I have a strange problem that neither my mechanic or I can diagnose. I dropped my car off at my mechanic to get an action stage 1KS clutch installed and I came back today to pick it up. He said that the car initially backed up out of the garage fine and proceeded to drive for a few seconds, but then the wheels no longer had any power. The engine starts, the transmission shifts through all gears fine, but the car won't move! The strange thing is, no matter what position the shifter is in, (including neutral), when the clutch pedal is not being pushed, the speedometer reads 20 km/hr (I have a Canadian car), and when I push the clutch in the speed goes down to zero. I don't know what's wrong, maybe you guys have an idea? Thanks a lot and sorry about the length of the post.

He didnt get an axle allthe way in and it must have popped out.
If the speedo is reading then the final drive is turning but the axles are not.
Put it up in the air and I bet you one of the axles worked its way out of the trans.

Thanks for your help FULLTHROTTLE, we found out what the problem was. It wasn't the axles, although I did suspect that too. He didn't align the pushrod that pushes the pressure plate onto the clutch disc right, so the clutch wasn't grabbing the flywheel.

I'm sure it was an honest mistake.. Kind of like when I forgot to tighten the cam gear bolts on my Datsun 2000 Sport.. I listened to the thing rattle for about 20 miles, pulling over to try to find the rattle many times..

Found it fine when the cam gear fell off and the motor went boom...
