If youre going with that much boost, it certainly wouldnt hurt. I would be nervous boosting a stock motor that much. But, that's just me. My view is on the conservative end on this board.

if the compression is good id run 10-12 boost on it till it blows then rebuild, you never know you might get another 50,000 boosted miles on it

I would rebuild the engine first for higher boost application.

boost it first. run low psi
then push up the boost, blow the engine and then rebuild.

yeah install thicker head gasket for that kinda boost and boost away, rebuild later. You have nothing to lose this way.

don't install a thicker head gasket. You're cam timing will be off. Just boost 6-8 psi, till you have the money to rebuild, then boost 12 psi, blow it, rebuild it, love it, tune it.

Careful how you say this. You make it sound as if installing a thicker headgasket will damage his motor. Installing thicker head gaskets (and I've installed quite a few) did not make a noticebale difference in performance. It advances it just a hair but not enough to worry about.

The motor is not in the car yet.So I can't comp. check it but the motor came out of a modestly driven GSR.Should I just throw it in the way it is?
