Default H&R Springs received today...

First post...this site looks like a great one.

I just got my H&R springs today, and plan on putting them on this weekend as a DIY project...shouldn't be too much of a hassle, eh?

Thanks guys.

Welcome. Should take 3-4 hours if you know what you are doing. I reccomend getting/renting a spring compressor. Getting the stock spring/shock assembly apart is the toughest part. Do a search and everything you need to know should be already written down for you. Good luck o and make sure to get some

It does take time, but the hardest part is taking the stock springs off of the struts and shocks. Puting on the H&Rs should be relatively simple due to the fact the springs are shorter than stock. A compressor and an impact gun would help speed things along, but simple hand tools will suffice. Oh, and don't forget the spring compressors. These will aid in removal of the stock springs and can be rented from a local parts store, unless you already have a pair. Good luck!

Thanks guys. I've got a buddy who has all the tools for the job, so we should be okay. I've replaced the stock springs on my wife's '00 Maxima SE to H&R, so my Accord can't be that difficult.

I'll post pics as soon as the job is done!

Thanks again for the tips.

it is super easy and you dont really need a spring compressor. most the time they will not fit between the coils anyways.

takes like 2 hours to change springs... done 3-4 accord, civic si's, preludes, etc. with nothing but h&r's and eibach's. never had any problems and looks great.

got h&r's on mine too.

Well, I just finished putting the front H&R Sport springs on my car this evening. The front end is very tight. I can't wait to get the rears on (we're tackling them tomorrow night or maybe Saturday sometime).

...Now I am in DESPERATE need of getting some larger rims/tires. The lowered car makes the stock 15" rims look *really* puny.

I am considering 16" or 17" Special Edition Fox 2 rims (see pic).

1) Do you guys think the 16" will still be too small? Or, should I jump up to 17"?
2) What do you guys think of the rims anyway? Anybody got any pics?

Thanks for your input guys.

you are sacrificing performance with those bigger rims....... remember this forum is not about "what would look good on my car"

I went with the 17". I looked at 16s but they looked small. Its your decision on whats gonna look right. This is just my experience.

Hey guys, I just got finished putting on the rear H&R Sport springs...the car sits just right now! I can't believe how good it looks.

I'd post a picture of my car, but I didn't finish the job until a couple hours ago. It's supposed to be sunny tomorrow, so I will be sure to post pics around lunchtime (the 15" OE rims are still on my car, but I hope to get the 16" Fox 2's sometime next week).

The rears are an ABSOLUTE BREEZE to install. I didn't even need spring compressors at all. However, the top strut screw did pop loose with just a little pressure from the stock springs. The H&R springs were simply pushed together with help from a friend and screwed back in...very easy.

Hope everybody had a great weekend.

I'm just gonna go 16's next spring, gives me a decent look and a nice ride on the 45/50 series tire.

it depends on what kind of performance your talking about. read here:

A civic ex was tested with 14"-17" wheels, they had the fastest autox times with the 17"s, although 16" was close. Some of the gain was probably due to the increased tire width though, but thats one advantage of running bigger wheels.

Autocross and what I am talking about are two different things, tire traction is what makes autocross along with 99% driver. the movements are extremely jerky and top speeds don't usually reach over 75 mph for high horsepower cars. On a real roadcourse bigger wheels will kill you becuase there is more top end. I remember reading that article, I will go back to it tonight and look at its comparision again.

Just get the Haynes manual too, just be pretty straightforward.

Make sure you have another set of hands to help too.

Good question...

Yes, I plan on getting an alignment as soon as my 16" rims get put on, which should be in a week or two. I can tell the frontend needs it badly now--and also maybe a camber kit, as the front wheels look a little off center.

After the job was completed, I got to thinking and it struck me as odd that Tirerack didn't recommend the camber kit... the entire car dropped quite a bit from stock height. I'm going to call them back tomorrow morning.

Could you please post the specs when you get the alignment... Thanks.. I will be lowering my 5th gen next month with H&R sports and would like to know how much negative camber there will be. That way i can get the camber kit with the correct amount of correction...

Sure, no problem.

OT: How's Sac these days? I graduated from Wheatland HS (just north of Sac) back in 1987...we always used to attempt at picking up girls at Scandia, but never got lucky. I wish I knew then what I know now...
