I just did a mini me swap in my 98 ek hatch and now the car never reaches temp with the heat on and blower on. If the heaters on cold it will get close to temp but never enough to cycle the rad. When I park and let it idle it will reach temp but never while driving. I feel like I’ve tried everything replaced the thermostat, coolant temp sensor and I’ve bled the coolant countless times but there’s still air in the system. There’s no visible coolant leaks.

I thought I did? What’s the correct way

 

- crank car, keep it level as possible.
- turn on heat to MAX
- make sure you're using a thermostat that is close to stock temperature
- make sure the fan is coming on
- does the thermostat open up and cycle through the engine as well as the radiator?
- does the exhaust smell like coolant?
- What type of coolant and mixture ratio are you using??
