Icon5 How to diagnose misfire in all cylinders + reduced power (D16Y7)

Hey all,
I picked up a 2000 civic cx hatchback recently. the two biggest issues that I noticed off the bat was 5 codes that said there was a misfire in cylinders 1, 2, 3, 4 and "random cylinder misfire." Im guessing that the misfire has also caused the engine to only top out at 60 mph. Is there any common issues I should look for first? Steps I should take to diagnose it(ex. check everything relating towards spark, then fuel, ex.)?
This is the first time I am actually working on a car without any outside assistance. sorry if I sound clueless.

I would check the distributor - as misfires on all cylinders and at random times usually correlates to either something easy like an old cap/rotor/wires/spark plugs or even just the use of an aftermarket distributor can create weird issues.

Also it being a 2000, it's OBD2b, so it does have a crank position sensor on the oil pump side, which could be a possible culprit.

Honda sets misfire codes for all cylinders anytime there is a single cylinder misfire. Its stupid and frustrating and they were only the manufacture to do this.(This practice was abandoned in later model years)

You need a scan tool. Clear the codes, short the SCS connector and drive the vehicle.

Usually the offending cylinder will code before the others......
