Just tape off the VTEC solenoid wire and it will fit exactly where your original motor went. Use the distributor intake manifold and iacv from your y8 or you may need to run an extra wire for your idle air control valve , as the DX civic with y7 use a 3 wire iacv

so unfortunately I scrapped the old motor already but I kept the wiring harness , any chance I can wire the d16y8 obd2b harness over to the y7 and keep taht? Currently I got it running with the original harness an auto ecu but kinda runs like **** imo, planning on getting a jumper harness obd2b to obd2a to run the manual ecu until I p28 swap it ALSO it was a LX it came out of I thought it was dx but it’s not

no wires need to be added if the y8 harness is retained and it should be.

OP, swap in the long block and keep everything else as is. you'll have orphaned connectors for the knock sensor, VTEC pressure switch and VTEC solenoid but everything else should be golden.

check the driver's side mount bracket at the timing belt cover. I know that's different for various D-series, but can't recall which are directly compatible. swap the Y8 on if different.

As far as all the mounts an brackets go they all bolted right up no problem, an it is currently running BUT on the Auto y8 ecu, I’m planning to get a obd2b to obd2a jumper harness to run the Y7 manual ecu i got with the swap but as of right now I have a bunch of codes mostly related to the automatic transmission since it’s now gone, the only engine related one in my ecu is for the ECT which I plan to check out today, thankfully I work at Autozone so I can get parts somewhat cheap and it’s also a second car for me

I for sure do 🤣 but they usually go away cuz I disconnect battery each day cuz I’m not driving it rn so they wipe them re trigger when I drive down the block to test different stuff, rn I just hav the solenoid wires wrapped up an taped back until I figure the harness an ecu situation out, picking up a obd2b to obd2a jumper this week when I get paid to run the non vtec manual ecu I got with the swap so will get rid of those codes as it won’t look for vtec, rn it’s running pretty good, I just gotta wire up the primary oxygen sensor on the cat as I’ve been told that one controls the air fuel mixture , could be wrong , but my obd is showing a fuel trim fault, however when prior to the swap my y8s cat 02 wire was already cut an i gotta figure out if the wires I’m seeing are actually for the cat so I can add wire an fix it,
