Hey all! Hoping to get some Honda Tech magic advice. So I just bought an EJ8 which is the Canadian 6th Gen Si Coupe in automatic, with127,000km on the dash, D16y8. I’d love to learn manual but I don’t really have the time to deal with all of that and the swap right now, I’m just trying to figure out the current issues for a big trip.

So right now, P0740 comes on. I did try to drive off with the TCC unplugged once as well, when I was looking at the wires, and it would slam into each gear when selecting them, and plugging it back in SIGNIFICANTLY smoothed it out, but I do get a bit of a clunk into reverse and drive sometimes, but when I reset the ECU, sometimes it takes 0.5-2 days for the code to come back. I’ve confirmed one thing, the terminals in TCC Solenoid connector (female side) click in, I’ve cleaned the connector housing well, but there is play when you press them more and they are a little loose, they will go further if you push them, and sometimes they do look a tiny bit like they are slanted, they can definitely be twisted a bit even after they’ve been clicked in.

This is on the female side which is on the engine wire harness, or I guess the transmission sub harness. I’m not sure if it’s difficult to replace the sub harness itself?? I can’t really find the part numbers, I know these connectors are really difficult to get off being careful with them. The car shifts fine but I just know there’s something wrong with just the wiring or connector. I tested the power (yellow) wire for voltage and it was running 0.53v with key on engine off, the green wire was running 3.17v. I can’t tell cus the signal wire can only be tested really when the car is driving, what can I do? Running a whole new wire feels like it would be difficult, but also I feel like this could very well be just a bad connection maybe??
I found this grey connector thing, and the wires from the tcc connector bundle into a harness that goes into this thing.

This is what my A/B shift solenoids looked like before I cleaned them a bit, haven’t taken this one off yet but I plan on doing that when I do my next drain and fill, but I cannot for the life of my get that connector disconnected. I had coolant leaking from my heater core hose which I replaced, as well as my old rad. One of the transmission cooler lines going into the rad, was very dirty with that same gunk on the tranny, the other was super clean. ATF only had shimmer in it, otherwise fine.
