I bought 98 Civic Si Coupe (Canadian) few months ago and I wanted to add keyless entry. So, I was looking around bunch of forums and https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-...ition-3335326/ says Canadian ones comes with a different security control unit. The part shown in the picture 08E61-S01-3M0-02 can't be found anywhere on the internet. Something similar is 08E51-S01-101F but it doesn't have the pigtail antenna. Nonetheless, I was under the dash to replace the climate control light bulbs and found two green connectors. The fist one has 22 pins but the second one has 5 pins(?)
08E51-S01-101F installation manual says 22 pin goes to the security unit and the second one (supposedly 16 pin) goes to the OEM radio but that is not the case for mine. So, I'm a bit hopeless here since I can't find the Canadian security unit and ones I can find might not work for this car. I guess the other option is installing an aftermarket ones but I'm not sure which one to get. Any advice is much appreciated.
The large green connector is the security unit. Not sure what the small green one is. The 16 pin you refer to is the same radio connector in any 88-00 civic. The attachment for the disarm switch is posted later in the thread for the 99-00 civic. On the usdm 96-98 there’s no valet switch. The valet switch is integrated on the oem head unit. Also with the usdm 96-98 model adding a aftermarket deck disabled the keyless entry. You had to modify the wiring to retain functionality. One car I bought actually had the radio behind the dash to maintain functionality of the keyless entry. Might have been that second green connector that you have. On the usdm model the security unit is attached to the top of the oem radio.
