What is this A/C part called ? / Honda part number
This is a 4" plastic part with a rubber plug on one end, and a small 3 prong fuse inside.
it is located just under the A/C fan control relays and in the same wire loom just behind the driver's headlight.
i have seen it called several names, but none of them match the look of the oart.
It is some kind of pressure switch.
1993 Civic DX 1 5l
When it is cool in the mornings, the A/C works fine, but as it gets hot during the day, the part shuts off the A/C power and it doesn't come on. ( blower fan works, but A/C fan in the engine bay does not. )
I'll try and attach a photo on the next post.
( Not sure if this forum allows direct uploads and I don't have it online that I can link to. )
Re: What is this A/C part called ? / Honda part number
black/yellow....usually a power wire. That's some sort of resistor/relay, similar to the fuel injection "dead-end" plugs at the driver side shock tower.
The original part number is: Honda 80460-SR3-A02, 80460-SR3-A01, 80460-SR3-A00 Wire Harness, Air Conditioner (#25 in the illustration below)
Re: What is this A/C part called ? / Honda part number
Thanks guys !
Much appreciated.
I didn't expect to get the answer so fast.
I was going to make a 130 mile trip in 100 degree temps this weekend and was not looking forward to it !
Re: What is this A/C part called ? / Honda part number
One more question : As a test, can I jumper where the 3 prong diode fits in ?
i notice I see one female port does not have a metal bracket, and thought maybe I pushed my multimeter probe in too forcefully, but that doesn't seem to be the case, since after I put the 3prong diode back in, the A/C ran fine the next morning ( cool outside temps )
ChatGPT suggested I jump it, but since it got the part name completely wrong even after showing it a photo, I don't have much trust in ChatGPT.
Is there another way to test this part ?
(BTW Having the probe in both the left and right recptacles didn't give any sound .I think that is obvious now that I see there is no metal connector on the left side ! )
-Thanks !
(EDIT : I gave ChatGPT the correct part number and part name.
It now says the bare terminal is normal and simply designed that way so that the diode fits in a certain way.
I'm told I can jump the middle and right terminals and should hear a click or have the A/C fan etc react in some way.
I will also test the diode itself tomorrow. )

Re: What is this A/C part called ? / Honda part number
This morning just at sunrise : cool temps.
A/C fan works fine. Blowing cold air.
Mid afternoon : hot outside 89 - 90 degrees = A/C fan not working
Blower fan in car working, but blowing hot .
No clicks or other noises from compressor and such.
No switches or wires moved between tests.
BTW, I have the A/C on full blast in both tests. As I turn the key, the cabin blower fan kicks on ( ACC ) and then continued turning starts the car.
I replaced the lights in my climate control panel with little LED lights. ( what a pain that was ! )
Suspect my shabby workmanship is causing this EXCEPT that I had the issue prior to doing the LEDs.
I notice I have a short in one of the lights ( the cabin air button ) It comes on, but shuts off sometimes.
if i tap it again the button, the light comes back on.
However, there is no change to the fan coming on.
The next time I have the A/C working, I will tap on the switch to see if I can get it to switch off and power off the A/C.
( I suspect the problems may not be related but im open to it )
This may be laughed at, bit I did a test of the diode by placing it in a plastic bag in my freezer.
No results when placed back into the car now thst it is 95 degrees outside. ( Diode was still cold )
Re: What is this A/C part called ? / Honda part number
UPDATE : Spraying " Electronic switch and Contact Cleaner " on both the connector ( female ) and the diode itself seems to have fixed the issue.
Just seconds before, I jumped the two terminals inside the diode houslng with no audible sound with my multimeter switched on. I then "paperclipped" it by jumping the middle and right terminal. I then started the car.
No A/C kick on.
So Im sure me goofing around with jumping the thing didn't magically fix anything and I'm sure it was the contact cleaner , but I wanted to mention ever step so far.
MODS : I'll create a new thread with the title of the problem and the solution so that it is condensed for anyone with the same issue.
i'll do this once I am certain this has fixed the issue.
AGAIN : Thanks to every one of you here that contribute to the forum. You are appreciated.
