Hey fam,

I recently inherited a turbo civic from my late father and I was wondering how much oil this thing takes. My father once told me it takes additional oil rather than the recommended 4.2 quarts because of the turbo. He also said he filled it with 10w 40 if I recall but I'm uncertain that's the exact type. He told me this years ago.

 

Mobil1 10w-40, 'european' is what I would say. I agree 40wt for turbo car.

5qt should be fine. You want it to be about an 1/8th to quarter inch above the top dot of the dip stick. 5qt usually gets you there. Extra G forces cause oil to slosh, and extra oil helps keep it from losing oil pressure.
