Hey everyone I'm new here I've searched the forum and can't seem to find quite what I'm looking for. I have a 2012 Honda Civic EX that spontaneously threw a P2185 code the CEL is on and it says check emissions. It seems to be driving fine and not overheating.

I replaced the ECT2 sensor already at the bottom of the radiator and the code kept coming back, after doing all I knew how to do to troubleshoot it I took it to a garage and they recommended changing the ECT1 sensor as well (I had a feeling that wouldn't fix it but I had them do it anyhow). No surprise it kept throwing the codes for them too - they called and told me they ultimately came to the conclusion that it was a wiring issue....which I suspected and had even mentioned when I dropped it off that it could be the plug or wire since that's where all my research was sending me when replacing the ect2 sensor didn't work...that's why I took it to thembecause replacing the sensor didn't do it.

Anyhow they told me they didn't have the capabilities to trace the wires and that I'd have to take it to the dealership... So since that sensor only has 2 wires is there anyway I can just run 2 new wires? Is that section of the harness replaceable without having to get into a big harness? I'd really prefer not to spend thousands at the dealership on a harness all for 2 wires.

Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction, I saw a few diagrams on here but they weren't for the 2012 civic and I'm not sure how different things are between models so if anyone has any diagrams or information that could help me try to figure out how to deal with this I would greatly appreciate the help. Also any opinions/suggestions on running 2 new wires and splicing them in would be great too. Thanks.
