I have a d16z6 manual I am putting into my 1997 civic auto and I was looking at my mounts compared to the mounts the engine has and they don’t line up but everywhere I’ve seen people say they bolt right in and just don’t know what to do and where to buy right engine mounts
You will need the bolt on mount and the upper transmission bracket from a '96-00 SOHC manual chassis. Replace those two parts that you see in your photo above.
Other than the VTEC plugs, the plug count should be about the same. Obviously, you will have a whole bunch of extra plugs on your Y7 engine harness that would have plugged into the auto transmission. You could re-purpose some of these wires to make VTEC work... just remember what you use so that you can re-pin the same wire at the ECU end of the engine harness for proper function.
Well i was planning on just wiring the vtec solenoid and pressure switch straight to the ecu but with all the extra plugs will i be find just leaving them unplugged and hiding them away somewhere? this is my first engine swap and im grateful for the help.
Yes, you can do that. Just don't cut anything... you may end up with a short or start popping fuses from voltage wires grounding out. Tuck the extra plugs away.
after messing with my swap getting it buttoned up my y7 harness isnt long enough because of the throttle body positions are different should i buy another y7 harness where the throttle body is sideways instead of up because all of the harness ive found dont have the drivers side plugs on the strut tower.
On the Y7 engine harness, cut the main bundle tape off and pull out the MAP/TPS/IACV part of the harness to give you more slack to reach the sideways throttle body. Then re-tape the loom on the main bundle and add some loom and re-tape the "lengthened" part of the engine harness that you just created and you will be good to go on that part. Remember that you will need to swap from a 3-wire IACV to a 2-wire IACV plug type and move the black/blue wire from position 14 to position 12 at the ECU.
