I had same problem ater auto-x this weekend. I had CEL on, and speedo was either all over the place, or just at zero even when moving. I checked the VSS fuse in the fuse panel (7.5A) and it was blown. I replaced the fuse, reset ecu and all is back to normal.

Speed sensor fuse is probably blown. Check your fuses on the inside of the car by your clutch pedal. Im pretty sure thats it.

If it's not VSS related, I'd check the distributor.

I had a similar problem and I traced it to a loose battery clamp.

Steve, My VSS is bad. At 99mph my Speedo stops but car still accelerates like normal! Been to lazy to get a new VSS, how often do I go ova 100mph anyway!

If all else fails, try stealing err--"borrowing" the speedometer out of Ed's car to see if that stops the problem.

I heard that ... haha

Secondary O2/VSS/grounds/shorting etc.
Sounds like after Craig was done running open header at the last ITR EXPO.
I believe he shorted either the power or signal wires.

That would be the heater circuit...and I did that at the ITR EXPO #1, funny that someone did that at #2...

- vss/alternator fuse - 7.5amp underdash
- short in vss wire @ the ecu harness
- bad battery connectors - ground with resistance
- bad ELD
- alternator/charging system short

had this happen recently

Might as well check the PGM-FI fuse while you're at it..

My speedo did this, turns out the spring was bad. It would work fine sometimes and other times it would stick in places. Acura replaced the speedo for free saying it was on some sort of service recall but also my car was still under warranty so I don't know how they would handle cars out of warranty with it.
