Have an ‘05 VP that I am currently doing a full rebuild on. (Car burned oil and finally blew the head gasket.)
I already pulled the engine, sent it to the machine shop and got it back. (Block and Head Resurfaced, Crank Polished).
I bought all the parts for this rebuild and have been receiving them little by little. I got my head bolts in today and the newer ones seemed significantly longer than my older ones. Which led me to realize some of my older ones are actually different sizes.
Do I have the right head bolts? (MAHLE GS33750 10x140mm). Or could my car have the incorrect ones from the start? (I’ve known the previous owner for many years. He told me he had replaced the head gasket a few years ago and is the type to cut cost on this sort of thing.)
If I do have the wrong ones, which should I buy?
TIA!
(in the attached images, one is of all of my old head bolts, and the other is of the new (far left) and 2 old which are different sizes)
