Default CV Axle options

I have a 2008 Honda Civic LX, automatic transmission 4 door sedan with 144,000 miles. My cv axle outer boots keep tearing. I need to replace my passenger side cv axle. Where do you guys purchase your Honda brand cv axles? Anyone know the part number for what I need? I think it's 44305-SNE-A01? I could get a Cardone brand on Amazon for $72 and they also have an ECCPP brand with a dynamic dampener for a little cheaper. I'm avoiding GSP. Any recommended after market brands? Any I should avoid? Should I try to get a Honda cv axle at the junk yard? I don't understand why the rubber would keep tearing on these. I guess the Honda ones have thicker rubber? How much should I expect to pay for a Honda cv axle? Thanks in advance

I'd want to look into why your boots keep tearing. How long do they last?

I'd recommend avoiding the rubber booted axles like the plague. The plastic (TPE) boots are much much more durable, that's why every OE axle has superceded to them. If you are rebooting, the kits from the dealer will contain TPE boots. Many of the parts store axles, new or reman, will use the EPDM rubber boots - another reason to avoid them.

If you are purchasing new, I've always had great luck with Raxles. A little more money for a much better product. Hopefully Marty is still in business. Raxles, America's premier supplier of OE quality CV Axles and CV joints - Raxles Inc.

Wow, had no idea there was a stronger boot (TPE). I'll try to buy an axle with TPE boots. I'm not sure I want to deal with putting a new boot on. My axles last like 2 years it seems before the boots tear. Never had this issue with any other car. Seems to be only the outer boots. I don't drive on rocks or anything, so not sure why so many torn cv axle boots.

Depending on where you live and how much you drive, two years is about all you can really expect out of rubber boots. Many will last longer, but many will not.
