4th gen wagon calipers on a 4th gen sedan... will it work?
Well as you can see i am really trying to increase the performance of my brakes.
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=336567
Now people have helped, but someone told me to upgrade my calipers. Now i have a 1990 Honda Accord EX Sedan, just incase none of you know already. It is COMPLETELY STOCK!
Now my question is, if i aquired the calipers from a 4th generation Accord Wagon, would the fit on my car? Would they clear my stock wheel? Would they really improve my brake performance? How much do you think i could aquire some for? Please any help would be greatly appreciated.

What are you trying to do with your brakes? If your car is stock, why do you need brake upgrades anyway? You should get a higher than OEM performance pad. Flush the lines with and refill with a quality high temp brake fluid. Are you having problems with fade? If you still desire more braking power, upgrade your rotors to something larger. You would be amazed what a good set of pads and a fluid flush will feel like. I don't suggest wasting money on caliper upgrades because the stock ones provide more than enough clamping force.
These worked nicely for me...

Hey Stew,
You got the same wheels as I.
And that's what the AEM will look like behind them? WOW impressive.
Actually I'm going to get that Big Brake kit like yours. Altghouh I do have some questions.
1 - How do you like them?
2 - did you upgrade your calipers? or is that caliper paint?
3 - Have you thought about upgrading your calipers?
AEM has a 4 piston but it's expensive. Will the Acura CL calipers or NSX calipers work for us?
Your help is appreciated. PS. Car looks awesome!

Thanks, I thought I must have been the only one in the world with these wheels. I bought them used off of some guy just because I needed bigger wheels to clear the calipers. I love the AEM big brake kit. I use the Carbotech Panther + pads upfront with them and these things grab like a **** (once the pads heat up). Those are stock painted calipers which I rebuilt when I did the brake upgrade. Some people say that they heard this and that from so and so. But firsthand I have had no problems with them. I assure you I take these puppies from 100+ MPH to 0 many times and have yet to fade them. I don't really see the point of upgrading the calipers unless you have a lot of time/money on your hands. I don't plan on doing mine. There is a caliper upgrade. I think it's the Acura Legend calipers and at least 1 person in here has done it successfully. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=241996 Here is one. Just do a search in the archives and the Accord forum using the word "legend" and you should find what you're looking for-a more economical caliper upgrade because everything can be found at a junkyard.

I hate how my brakes fade and heat up like a mother and feel like they lose their grip after a little hard braking. It annoys the **** out me... they also lock up quick as hell. Its really annoying.
Brembo blanks, AEM pads, Valvoline SynPower DOT 3 & 4 Brake Fluid, Goodridge Stainless Steel lines. Would this combo be very effective? Or would i need to use the 4th gen wagon calipers to really feel a difference?
Let me know what you guys think.

ATE Super Blue fluid, Axxiss Ultimate pads, SS lines, stock calipers with brembo blanks
if you have more braking problems then upgrade your pads
I do not seem to have any braking problems on the race track with a very simple setup and trust me I am braking 100 times harder than you

if your wheels are locking up, its the greasy tires you have on. What tires are you running? Size and brand and designation.
Upgrade your tires and you won't feel the need to upgrade your brakes.
My personal cost-effective liking is Motul 6.0 synthetic, OEM semi-metallics, generic SS lines (i've used and liked Earl's on other cars) on clean OEM rotors with good quality tires. I couldn't get the Motul + OEM's to fade...and that was canyon running in the mountains...

Caliper upgrades do very little for fade resistance/ it's more in the pads/fluid/and rotors.
seriously i think you should leave ur car alone and let it be cause its already old. plus its stock and buying such expensive rotors and pads is a waste of money. just get good quality rotors and good quality pads and it will be just fine.

for this one. He has Caliente HP tires 195/60-15. They look like the biggest pieces of **** in the world. They are not even one piece on the outside. You can actually see where the tire was molded together. When my tires need to be changed, i am definately going to get better tires.

exactly. why waste money on performance brakes on a car with over 150,000 miles on it already.

i resent this statement.
**** that. you should be able to upgrade your car of choice regardless of miles. i upgraded my brakes to brembo blanks and honda oem pads. not much of an upgrade but still one. my cars got 191k and i still plan on upgrading it
nice nice nice... i have a drop in K&N Air Filter, thats about it for engine work.
I would love to get all new bearings and what not. New Rods and Higher compression pistons. Swap on a VTEC head from a newer F22. Header, Cat, Exhaust. But when i am going to get maybe 30hp from about $3k worth of upgrades (if not more than that), and retain the shitty body that rattles and sucks. Than whats the point.

the point is all in preferance. me and my car have had some bad times. i even had a down payment on another car and called the dude and cancelled just because i saw my accord in an angle that was beautiful.
it is expensive going fast in an accord but its all about knowledge. hell theres ways to get FREE horsepower.....its all about knowing where to look though.
but my drunk *** is just rambling now
also i noticed youre in northeast NJ. me too

Yes, It will work but you have to use the 4th gen sedan rotors to, they are about 11.5' big. Or you can use the 3rd gen accord wagon rotors, same size as 4th gen accord and use 92-02 prelude calipers but you would have to put a .040 thousands shim to center the caliper to the rotor .
Thats what i did! I just recently converted my brakes to 2003 Tl Type S brake conversion but that takes some fabrication!!!
