OB2A d16y7 stock wire harness to OB2A Vtec Engine & manifold
Hey! I need help with an anomaly I’ve been searching around the Internet for. I have a 1996 LX sedan non-VTEC manual 5spd I bought when I was 18.i pulled the blown engine and car has sat in my garage for 10 years. Recently had a baby boy and got encouraged to finish project cause wife doesn’t want car sitting round house anymore.bought a d16y8 VTEC crate engine, d16y8 intake manifold, with VTEC knock sensor / and VTEC IACV, with a p2p-A34 ECU. I put everything together and bolted up y7 transmission and dropped engine into the car. I’m searching around to understand could I make the OB2A y7 m/t non- VTEC wire harness work or just buy a OB2A y8 m/t VTEC wire harness? I already have female iacv plug for trying to make y7 wire harness work. what do I do?
You could convert the original Y7 engine harness, but it is easier to simply "Plug In" a '96-98 EX Y8 manual engine harness.
The easiest cheat way is to run the missing wires separately outside the main harness to directly to the ecu . Use the OBD2A pin out and run wires to those pin outs .
Easiest way , is find a D16y8 complete harness from a yard.
