Can i use my stock d16y7 wire harness on a d16y8 vtec head til i get the vtec harness?

Yeah but you'll have to adapt and add some things. VTEC, knock sensor, convert 3 wire IACV to 2 wire. Extend the secondary O2 as well.

You can run wires, and have it look all crappy. Or you can find an Ex harness and save all the head aches.

Youll most likely try and use your Y7 harness so youll need to run wires for the 2 wire IACV, VTEC oil pressure, VTEC solenoid and knock sensor.

can i use the y7 harness with out running any wires. i dont really need the vtec right now cuz it is a emergency. i am goin get the y8 harness later.

you'll still have to convert the IACV to 2 wire if you plan on using the P2P. If you put the Y8 head on and run the P2E ECU its going to throw a code for IACV unless you retain the Y7 intake manifold.

cant use a ex harness the secondary o2 sensor is ran in the cabin harness not the engine harness and would need re wired. your better off to modify a y7 harness to work. if done right it does not have to look like crap unless u rush and are careless.

Save yourself the hunt time for the y8 harness and just buy Rywires Vtec Sub harness, i used it on my mini me and it works great. Comes with pins for ecu also, just hook the 3 wires in they're correct location and its good to go... You'll need it for a B16 but everything hooks up perfect.

Your motor will run with the y7 harness as long as your ECU matches the head and you have to atleast wire in the knock sensor, correct me if im wrong

the knock sensor is wired in the subharness. i got one from locashracing.com and it worked great
