Has anyone oped to fabricate their own CAI from the existing factory air box ?
Or, has anyone made one from scratch..........
I'd like to know what mods you did and extra parts or hardware used.
PICS would be a great idea to

I made a comptech Ice box out of my AEM and the stock air box and resonator. All you need is:
- A cheap-*** short ram for an LS/Type R integra (can get them for $25 on ebay)
- Your stock airbox
- Your resonator: cut the resonator up (who needs it anyway?) and extract the gray tube that goes from the bottom of the stock airbox into the actual resonator. Once out, re-attach the gray tube (by itself) to the bottom of the airbox.
The end result is a metal tube going from the Throttle body to the Stock airbox, with a plastic tube running down just about where the AEM CAI would stick out, only about 6-8 inches up farther (still gets cold air from the wheel well, but won't suck up water as it's too high, the filter isn't right there and the tube has a small hole already in it). I will post pics of my setup as soon as it stops raining
I think your getting basicaly the same thing as an Ice box, but it only costs as much as the cheap short-ram ($20-50) and takes like 30-45 mins to do. Looks very nice and neat if done right! Good luck!

Oh and to finish it off you can get a K&N, Comptech, etc. hi-flow filter to throw in the airbox. Don't forget that the Ice box itself, without the short-ram part (just the box with the tube) is $165!!

My old DIY Icebox
It plugs right into the bottom of the stock airbox after removing the resonator. Anybody want it? $20 Shipped anywhere. I don't need since I'm turbo now...

home mades don't flow enough. Not sure what it is but here is a dyno test i did.

Homemade would help a GSR but hurts a Type-R. Lost 6 hp.

This is where the pipe coming from the airbox intakes cold air - that big *** B on the left side of the picture is the B in Bridgestone, that is the wheel well with no plastic cover (and mad-crazy mud)
