valve cover gasket leaking?
I recently had a CTR intake cam installed, and when I inspected the engine after running it, I noticed a small amount of oil around the valvecover(between the valve cover and the head). I checked out the valve cover gasket and it looks fine. Will a small leak like this hurt performance? If so, can I use some type of sealant or silicone to stop it?

I had the same problem after I did my first valve adjustment. Here's what happened.
-I applied Hondabond to the required spots on the gasket
-I put the valvecover on the head and decided to lift it back up a little to perfectly center the valvecover.
-I put the valvecover back and I thought I succesfully finished my first valve adjustment.
It turned out that when I lifted the cover off the head, the gasket got dislodged from the vavlecover grooves. When I put the valvecover back on, the edge of the valvecover ripped the gasket without me knowing.
Make sure you check your gasket carefully that it has no rips.

like reid said, replace the gasket and apply Honda Bond on the appropriate areas and make sure to tighten down the valve cover evenly.
Would it be bad if a little of the liquid gasket stuff were to get inside the valve cover? Cuz I'm afraid that when I put the valvecover back on it will squeeze away past the edges. Is it harmful to the engine?
yes, it would be bad. when j00 put it on, just smear a thin layer w/ your finger. no need to glob the chit on there.

It helps to clean the area before putting the gasket back on the head....this will prevent leaking..or at least help prevent leaking!
won't hurt performance. Mine is all over. I've got use to it like that and don't mind the dirty lookin engine. But its up to you, change it if you want, or wait til next valve adjustment and then fix it.

Is hondabond just a non-hardening sealant? What are the appropriate areas to put it on?
