B16A into 99 civic swap. Bogg/lag issue!
Cannot find the issue with b16A into a 99 civic ex. Idles fine revs fine until I get it on the road and get on it. There is a lag or bogg at mid range rpm, with more than 50% throttle its clearly noticeable but not so much when accelerator is barely pressed sometimes it happens sometimes it doesn't. I have spent countless days and nights trying to diagnose the issue, replaced everything from the distributor to fuel pump and all its counterparts, throttle body tps map sensors checked timing and checked it again 02 sensors checked for clogged cat just about everything...any help would be appreciated this is just sitting in my garage. Any and all opinions are welcome...anybody that has had this similar issue please help!!.
You might have the wrong ECU! What ECU are you using?
You can always have it tuned bro! get yourself a Hondata and at the very least try a base map and see how it runs!

The car is equipped with a p28 ecu with hondata V3. The basemap it had when i purchased the vehicle seemed a little off. So i tried the basic b16A map and it idled and sounded healthier. However the problem at hand is that anytime i get on the road it delays and hesitates for a few seconds and bogs. Ive tried just about everything feom basic tune up to removing the exhaust and removing intake manifold counterparts to check the gaskets. Nothing! ....
Have you checked the ignition timing with a timing light?
Have you checked the valve lash?
Make sure the base map you have is set to stock injectors and stock map sensor, very easy to check. also set and save the TPS calibration, it's very easy with Hondata takes 2 sec! im not sure if you checked the TPS calibration with Hondata yet.
Make sure you have oil and the engine is not starving and boggging when you get into vtec

The valves I have not checked and will have to look into that.
As far as the vtec I did note that when I checked the errors while datalogging vtec threw a code. Spool error I believe after inspection it became obvious that there is no fire running through any of the connections. This was oblivious to me as of now. Can this work in conjunction with what is going on??

Update!. Did a compression test and all cylinders are 120psi across, which i have read is not good for a b16A. Could any agree or am i reaching??
If they are the same, but low, you have probably done something wrong. Weak battery, not opening the throttle body etc.
Buy and use a leak down tester, they are much more conclusive than a compression tester IMHO.
I suspect your bog is due to a lean condition and/or knock activation or just poor spark timing. What does the wideband say? If you don't have a wideband, and you are "tuned" and searching for a driveability issue...well good luck with that. You would just be guessing.
If your A/F is decent (14.5+- when cruising, and down to about 12 when you're on it), then look at your timing. LOG IT. Review it. Look for knock activation. I have a B17A1-I had to defeat the knock because it was detecting when it shouldn't have been.
Try turning off VTEC and see how it performs. then turn back on. Check for differences in the timing tables if it works well without VTEC.
Hope that helps,
Chay

i do not have a wideband installed, i do not believe that it is tuned anymore lol i am running a basemap for the b16A. i have disabled vtec for now and will test drive to see how it performs..
