Default Oil light and car died

I was driving home from work and the car suddenly died. The oil light came on and now it won't start. Oil seems to be the right level. When I turn the key, there's no check engine light, only the oil light. It sounds like its cranking, just no start
It's a 96 civic LX

The oil light will always be on any time the ignition is on and there is no oil pressure, including if the engine dies. Did the light come on before the engine stopped running?

To be honest, I'm not sure. I was listening to music and watching the traffic down the road when I realized I had no throttle response. So when I looked down at the dash, the light was already on
