Civic 2000 How to confirm if the springs are bad or the struts itself?
Hi
I replaced my rear struts few months ago with used OEM Honda Japan struts assembly. My tire size is also stock. But if no one is sitting is sitting in rear and there is an uneven road, and speed is like 60 km/h, the rear tire will hit inner fender.
If people are sitting in rear, the symptom become more prominent even at low speed and slight uneven road.
I tried to bounce the car with my hands but it didn't
So how I can confirm what is bad?
Re: Civic 2000 How to confirm if the springs are bad or the struts itself?
Are the springs/struts modified in any way ? Are they from a different application than your chassis ? Does the car appear significantly lower than stock with them installed ? Where EXACTLY does the tire rub (both the chassis location and where on the tire contact is made) ?
You are asking VERY generalized questions without offering much detail... and this is why you do not have answers as of yet.

Did the car do this before the USED parts swap? If so then you have your answer. If not then you have your answer.. Now my question, why did you put USED struts on the car. For $110 American you can get a decent set of struts/springs off Amazon. I get the whole "Im broke/no money so Im gonna cheap out where I can" thing, but sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and spend the money. Being cheap now is going to be expensive later, being expensive now is going to be cheap later.
As for the quality of the Amazon spring/strut combo, I have 30k very hard miles on them. They ride just fine

I am not from USA.
Also problem was my coil springs were replaced by some local hard springs as I was having a aftermarket cng kit with cng cylinder in the trunk. Those coil springs were that hard that even with cylinder weight they don't bounce on any bump like if you replace shocks with wood. If 2 people sit in the back, then they start to work. Also they were hard, so you cannot get this issue with them. Also the car was also raised with those shocks. I removed the cng kit and cylinder 2 years ago. Now in our market, you can find new aftermarket struts only but if you want the coil spring, you will get those local ones which aren't near to OEM. So I thought I should get complete Japanese Honda shocks so that when they go bad, I can use the OEM coil spring with new struts.
At that time I was told that coil springs don't go bad. But now I am trying to find is the coil spring is the issue or the struts and I am getting mix response. That's why I am confused

No
Are they from a different application than your chassis?
i don't think so as Its written Honda Showa and it is identical to what I have removed

Doesn't feel significantly lower, I think its stock or close to stock height
Where EXACTLY does the tire rub (both the chassis location and where on the tire contact is made) ?
This I don't know but I can hear the rubbing noise from rear tires and they are rubbing the wheel well but don't know exact location

Based on the photo, it appears that either your tires are too tall/too wide OR the springs/struts are too light/blown out and causing the car to be too low and rub.
Re: Civic 2000 How to confirm if the springs are bad or the struts itself?
I am planning to change my tire size from 185/70 R14 to 195/65 R14
But the rubbing problem is still there.
I learned about bump stop
Can a bad bump stop cause this?
Wheels hitting the top wall well when with passengers and there is a dip
