Default 96 swaped civic help

Hello fellow honda guys

I'm new to the fourm so I hope I'm posting in the right place

I recently picked up a new project and im a little lost with this problem

it's a 96 civic sedan with b18b swap b16 trans

has a p28 ecu and a aftermarket tucked harness

I'm getting a cel code of 23 which I belive is knock sensor problem is I belive the p28 don't look for knock and I can't seem to find the knock sensors on the block

I don't know if wrong on reading the code or not but this isnt my first honda or b so I'm not fully clueless

Any input or suggestions would be appreciated i am gonna get a video uploaded of the cel flashes soon!

A P28 ECU doesn't have a code 23 (Knock) in it's library... so it is likely that you are simply reading the code incorrectly. How about taking a short video of the CEL blinking a few times and maybe we can help you translate the flashes.

Alright so for reassurance I cracked my ecu open and it's definitely a p28 but I took a video

Once you have "jumped" the two-pin connector, you now need to insert the key and turn on the vehicle. Your check engine light will then start to flash. Every long flash is a digit in the "tens" place in the code, and a short flash is a digit in the "ones" place. So, if you see two long flashes and five short flashes, you have a Code 25. There will be a long pause between codes. Read all the codes until they start to repeat themselves. Then refer to the table below to get the meaning of each code.

Code 20= Electric load detector

Code 21= V-TEC control solenoid

Try replacing the ELD fuse

Get a base map for a GSR on Hondata using a diffrent ECU and have ELD disabled!
Hope this helps and I'm correct...

Great job on the video... when you provide clear, concise information, you get prompt, accurate answers. As stated above, you have TWO codes: a 20 (ELD) and a 21 (VTEC Solenoid). Since you have a B18B (non-VTEC) engine, a standard P28 will be looking for VTEC sensors to be plugged in (and your B18B doesn't have them), so this is why you have a code 21. The ELD could be more difficult to track down... it could be a fuse, it could be a missing wire from your alternator, it could be a damaged engine wiring harness, or it could be a damaged ECU. You mentioned that you looked inside the ECU, but you didn't post a pic of that. If your ECU is already chipped, you might contact someone who can provide a proper basemap for your B18B and this will cure the VTEC code. If you ask that the ELD is disabled, both codes will be eliminated.

Thank both of you guys so im working on traking down where they relocated the under hood fuse panel it looks like a aftermarket harness so idk if it's bypassed and eliminated but everything else works headlights dash heat the fans on a switch I have look to deep inside the cat but it's not under the hood or hidden under there is it possible to do away with that panel?

I am gonna get a s300 put into the ecu it's very clean on the inside and its not chipped flashed yet so that's one of next task.

Any guidance on where to look or how to trace down please let me know the car is really well wired and not just a swap thrown into a car I will take some clear nice pictures on lunch break.
