Icon4 Gsr Swap Into EG HELP!!

I recently just done a gsr swap into a eg8. I started it up about 2 weeks ago but never took it out for a drive. Today I did tho, and noticed some problems... I am running a chipped p28 ecu with a gsr basemap. So when i took it for this little 30second joy ride, i floored it on first to find out that the fuel cut off is at 5,500 rpm -___- ...bummer, i dont know why, i found out that the knock sensor wasnt wired up so i did a little bit of research and read that the knock sensor needs to be hooked up in order for the engine to run at its full potential, i have CEL 23 if that helps. I wired up the knock sensor but still had the CEL on. I also dont have my vtec wired up. I dont know if this is causing the ecu to go on "sleep mode" or what not. Another thing is that my mph cluster wouldnt work neither, before i did the swap it worked fine, i did use the vss out of my old d series tranny and put it in my new ls trans. Also, when the car is in neutral at a stand still, the engine cuts off at 5,500 rpms also @ WOT! I though this was just a 2step feature from the previous owner of the chipped p28. Any info would be great.. Also my last engine was a d15b8, and fuel cut off was @ 5,500 rpms also.

<p>So you have a P28, which doesn't support a knock sensor, but you're throwing a knock sensor code? &nbsp;Where did you get your basemap that they didn't disable it? &nbsp; That's why you're in limp mode. &nbsp;Get the car professionally tuned, or at the very least get a basemap that has the knock sensor disabled, and you should be golden.&nbsp;</p>

wtf kind of swap is this? You're not done but you took it out and threw cel codes for sensors you knew weren't even connected to the ecu? Finish the job, confirm your work, reset ecu and try again.

Yea the dude told me its a p28 and that it was chipped. I do see that the ECU does ineed have chips in it, he also told me that the ECU has a gsr basemap. I checked the code yesterday for cel and gave me code #23. I'm just confused at this point. Is there such thing as a p28 throwing a cel for a knock sensor?

I found out the problem!! It was because of the vtec solenoid and pressure switch not being wired up to ecu. I guess since vtec engages @5,500rpms, the ecu wouldnt let the engine rev above 5.5k... Because of the fact that a gsr engine isn't designed to run on the two lower cam lobes above 5.5k rpms. Thats when the higher profile lobe (Vtec) kicks in yo! it all makes sense lol Thanks for the input!!

You already stated that they weren't hooked up to begin with. Should've done that first before taking it out for a run.

Yea i know.. i know. My problem was that i used a d16z6 wire harness, on a lx, so the wires for the vtec solenoid/pressure switch were not there in the pre harness(the one that goes into fire wall to ecu) Since i used a d16z6 i though that it would bypass this vtec wiring thing. I was wrong, and also i did not know d series of that year did not have knock sensors. Its my first swap, but im learning tho. Also im still getting a CEL after i hooked up the 3 sensors, and my engine wont rev past 7k rpms. But im more satisfied now i can atleast hit vtec! I think after I clear up the Check engine light, the car will rev to 8k. Does anyone know where exactly does a 95 b18c1 rev up to. some say 8k, others 8,200. Thanks
