Default non VTEC Hondata ecu questions

So today I met with a local shop about getting my hatch tuned. The owners were outstanding they helped me get the timing on point with the mini me. Also got me pointed in the right direction on my VTEC issues. My question is tho they kept my Hondata v3 and saidit was non VTEC and had to have the ecu modded to be able to use VTEC. Is this entirely true? I just let him do it as I've been out of the game for a while and he seemed trust worthy.

Default Re: non VTEC Hondata ecu questions

If the ECU was originally for a non-VTEC application, the VTEC components can be added to the circuit board so that it will function like a factory VTEC ECU.
