B18c type R tuning need help
Hey everybody , I’m a new member and hopefully I did this right. I’m needing some help with a tunning question.
Ive got a 1994 Honda Civic Vx hatch , I just got done installing a jdm B18c type R swap from a 98 Integra.
The motor is all stock no add ons ext . A buddy of mine has a obd1 P28 ecu from phearble.net it’s got a base map chip for a usdm b18c5 type r swap that was all stock tuned as well .
I was wondering if his ecu set up would be okay to run with my jdm b18c type r set up . I know the compression ratio on mine is 11:1 and his was 10:6:1 . I’m just wondering if it could run the jdm type r or would there be issues . Any help would be awesome because if it’s safe to run he’s going to give me the ecu for free . Thanks

Plug your friend's ECU into your car and if it seems to function properly, GENTLY drive it to a dyno and have the combination checked at wide-open-throttle. If the A/F is safe... run it. If not, have it tuned.
Hey Brian, Most people start of tuning the JDM B18c with that map. Make sure you set timing before anything. ( you can do it oem style, with jumper and by hand ) . I would recommend getting Honda Tuning Suite for the chipped ecu , so you can adjust map as needed. The cost to buy everything, will be higher than getting it tuned , so you might want to go that route.
If you set timing and it's on par, usually a stock JDM B18c will run fine with that map on 91 or higher octane. Once you do intake/header/exhaust, a retune is highly suggested as it leans out at the top rev range.
