Hi, I have a 98 civic Lx sedan and ive been having issues with it not turning over. The starter wont even do anything when i turn the key. i went and had the starter tested and it works just fine and i replaced the starter relay. when i turn the key the coolany radiator fan runs but nothing else relating to the starter works. I just relpaced the battery as well and all the connections look good. does anyone have any ideas on what it could be?

 

Check the ground from the battery to the chasis
you can actuly hook it up to another car with cables and it will ground there insted

I got one from autozone and just grounded it anywere You can try scratching it up were the bolts at the chassis

 

is the car all stock?
does it have an aftermarket alarm system?
have you tested the ignition?

 

It just has an aftermarket intake and it is wired to have an alarm system but they are unplugged and im going to test the ignition system for proper power today and make sure everything is getting 12 V

 

Do you hear the fuel pump prime when you move the key to the second position?

 

Yes the fuel pump is all good

 

i tried the ground and it didnt work

 

Sounds like a bad fuse, I can't remember the number of the fuse to check but make sure all fuses are good! start with the one in the engine bay and make sure the battery fuse didn't blow. Then check all fuses in the fuse box inside the cabin.

 

Hey what about the clutch safty switch/netral saftey switch you can ground them bolth look into it

Im trying the ignition switch but after that i will try that if it doesnt work, seriously thank you guys for the feedback, i have no idea what im doing

 

Check the switch under the clutch peddle. add another ground to your battery. make sure that you're pushing the clutch all th eway in .

And you got it tested right at like autozone? mabe time for a second opinion

 

little update ive replaced the entire circut not including the starter because i had it tested 3 times and it was good and all the fuses so should i replace the fuses?

 

did you try to jump the starter relay with a hand-held remote starter switch? that'd tell you what you need to know.
