Car won’t start
My car lost power out of no where. I would down shift and it wouldn’t go anywhere so I adjusted the valves after hearing a clattering sound from engine. (engine was cold)(sat overnight) I “set it” to top dead center and adjusted them in 1342 order turning the pulley thing 90 degrees left each time. I set exhaust to .009 and intake .007. I drove the car and this time it still wouldn’t make power but also idle would drop and shut down when stoping, slowing down to turn, and reversing into parking spot. I thought it was cause of the vacuum it had where pcv valve went to intake (it has had the leak for a while and ran fine after I put tape over it) so I replaced it. This time the idle seemed to be fine but still wasn’t making power. Upon entering my neighborhood it just shuts off and now it won’t start anymore. It sound like battery is dead but after we jump it with another car it still won’t start. Some ideas I think it might be are timing is off after valve adjustment (maybe wasn’t at tdc after all?), battery cable is bad/ loose (won’t tighten), haven’t replaced spark plugs or fuel filter, but I am not 100% positive what it might be so I wanted to come on here and ask what it might sound like
(More info on the car and engine would be nice too)
Make sure all valves are in spec still, I usually go to the tighter side of the clearance myself. Sounds like you done it right, did you miss any grounds or wires being connected? Tps and map get flipped?
