Cold Idle Problem
Hi guys I have a 1997 Honda Accord DX 5 Speed Manual. It has relatively low miles with 137k. It is running like a top right now when warm but not so much when cold. When started while could the engine revs up to about 1700-1900 rpms then drops back down to the regular 800 rpms. It does not continually stay at the 1700 rpms rather it revs up and down for a good 3-5 minutes until the engine is warm then there's no problems. I have already ripped off the IACV and cleaned it out I'm planning on doing that again this weekend and also getting into the throttle body. I thought maybe it could be a vacuum leak as well as I have been smelling gas around the car but I haven't gotten around to trouble shooting the gas smell. I also need to replace the valve cover gasket(s) I don't know if that could have any thing to do with it. Any suggestions or has anyone had this problem before?
