Default 1995 EG4 ECU replacements?

Hi. Bit new here. Would really appreciate any help as I've struggled with any reliable results on Google.

I have an ECU question:

Context
I have an Australian 1995 EG4 GLi 3D Civic with a D15B2 engine, the engine ECU is P06 Q00 - so the issue is the ECU is fried, and im unable to find an exact replacement.

Q:
So question is, will a Hondata S300 or a CUSTOM ECU like the Elite 550 or something work for any honda such as the one listed above? I'm really not trying to get a tune-and-race LinkECU type deal, I'm on probation with my license and really don't need the temptation, mostly not to mention these are just too expensive and overkill for something I'm TRYING to use as a daily for now.

Just looking for STOCK ECU ALTERNATIVES, essentially.

Any ECU work-around to make it run under $1000 AUD ($650 USD) would be favourable though. Can't find a stock replacement, been told to give up from a few wreckers. Think they're right. Found a few custom ECUs for about $2K AUD (about $1300 USD). Just overkill .

The stock ECU is a P06 Q00 (Aussie, manual, revision 0) and is OBD1.

Would hugely appreciate tips on this, I've only just walked in the Honda door but I'm desperate to get this beloved shitbox in gear. Taken a lot of time and $ and this is her last fix.
Thanks guys for your time,
Leigh

Do you know if your car has an ELD?

The P06 ECU is very common in north america as it was ran for d15b7's all day long. The difference between the Canadian C01 C05 and the USA A01 A05 versions is ELD. USA has it and Canada does not.

If you have an ELD in your car, then a USA P06 should work okay and if you do not then a Canadian P06 should work.

Since yours is Q00 sounds like it's manual so you will want a C00 or C01 or A00 or A01, the C/A05 is the automatics.

Yeah mad, that's huge news and a big help, thanks for that, Tom. It's pretty bare bones so I'd definitely say it doesn't have an ELD to my knowledge... do they come stock on some?

I think finding an American ECU in that model will be far easier than an Australian one somehow. I shall look into it. Thanks again.

Yeah apparently Australian models don't do the whole ELD thing.

What's your opinion on using a standalone custom ecu, any cheap recommendations? Feel like a Canadian ECU will be just as hard to find.

Appreciate it man.

I don't know of a cheap stand alone system, they are usually quite expensive as it's for full custom builds. And I made a minor mistake, it's A5x and C5x that is automatic while A0x and C0x is manual.

Ebay has C02 D15B7 ecu right now.

Just do a search for "37820-p06-c" on ebay and you will find a lot of canadian ecu's. And you can convert an Automatic ECU to manual really easily. It's remove 2 resistors and add a jumper wire if I recall. The automatic ECU might be cheaper. I saw at least 7 ECU's with this search.

Yeah, after some research, I think standalone ECU's will be the very last emergency option to be honest - $500 EG4 and a $2K new ECU? Lol nah. And yeah no worries man, I know about the ECU numbering, no stress at all on that.

Wow, okay I see, thank you for that. Yeah maybe my search query was too specific, I hadn't seen **** all come up.
Cheers Tom, I'll bookmark some of these if re-soldering and self-repairing the thing doesn't work. Yeah, I also found a Canadian auto ECU in a forum that is almost identical with only an easy desolder convert to manual in the way.

Appreciate the help, Tom - you've given a shitbox a chance at life.
