Head gasket replacement help
I have a 99 civic with a d15b engine I was driving home a hose from the water pump burst my engine shut down instantly. I let the car cool down then I cut the hose while driving to get a replacement the hose burst again engine shut down again
Got a replacement hose what I noticed now is the coolant is being forced out the reservoir and my gauge is going up, my mechanic told me that I head gasket probably blew but I'm also wondering if could be the water pump

Not water pump. Head gasket has failed from overheating. The water pump can not create that kind of pressure, only combustion gases and boiling the coolant can create those kinds of pressure in the system.

OK Its an old car. you have 2 choices here, fix it or replace it. If you do the job yourself you can replace the head/sparkplugs/distrib cap/timing belt/water pump/head gasket for less than $700. and not have to do anything but oil changes for the next 30k miles. HOw much is a replacement car?
head from cylinder head international 300
headgasket kit Amazon 125 (usually includes water pump and timing belt)
Amazon Sparkplug 20 (or reuse your old ones, not recommended but doable)
dist cap 15
Clymer manual $30 NEEDED NOT AN OPTION MUST BE BOUGHT
so for 500 in parts and an afternoon in labor your car would be running again.
Im still a bit drunk at the moment hense why i gave you all the details, just typing away here. Good luck
an afternoon of labor... now that's funny, a bit more than an afternoon to clean up the block after pulling the head. And usually a day to get the head shaved flat at the machine shop.
Yeah I see a couple days of work to do it well.
