Adding a resistor to my ELD
I read somewhere that if you are upgrading your sound system in a Honda part of keeping your voltage high is dealing with your ELD (Electronic load distributor, I think). Basically the ELD is responsible for shutting off your alternator when the car thinks you don't need anymore charging. The ELD has no idea you have added extra strain on the electrical and does it regardless. (My voltage regularly drops to 11v for no reason.)
Anyway, I read if you added a 800ohm resistor to the ELD and left it unattached it would solve this problem. Your alternator will run all the time and you will have a steady 14.4 v. Your gas mileage will suffer slightly but otherwise everything will work fine.
My question is, is this a good idea and does anyone know of any problems with doing it? Any experience, pictures and advice is greatly appreciated.
