Distributor has blown 2 coils........what could be the problem???
1996 civic hx, with a b16a.....hondata ecu and the hx's stock wireing harness. 450 dsm injectors and integra resistor box.
My Distributor has blown 2 coils and it seems that it is not fireing in the first cylinder. The car doesn't rev past 4200 rpms. What could be my problem?

Huh?
The alternator could be sitting in the passenger seat while the battery powers the engine. It won't last long, but it'll work. So I'm not sure what 2 blown coils and the alternator have to do with each other, much less a cylinder not firing.
Is the CEL on (check engine light)? If yes, check it.

The distributor only has 1 coil which is fired by the ICM (ignition control module).
There are also 3 sensors inside the distributor: TDC, CYL, CKP. These sensors coordinate fueling and timing events.
Is the CEL on?
Since you're using Hondata, its entirely possible that the solder job is less than satisfactory. Has this problem always been present or just cropped up recently?

Just cropped up recently...........and part of the circuit board of the ECU keeps shorting out. I sent the first ECU back to hondata and they sent me a new ECU. They said that the part that shorted wasn't critical to the functioning of the ECU and that if it happened again it is probably a wiring issue. Well it happened again, and now the distributor is giving me problems.
