07 coupe SI engine upgrade
Hey guys,
This forum has been my go to, for diagnosing issues with my civic. This is my first post and Its my first Honda and I really like the body style of the 8th gen coupe so I'm treating this car like a restoration. my father's generation restored classic cars well now its my turn. fixing a 15 year old car may as well be a classic.
my engine has over 600k Kilometers on it. 372 miles.
its high mileage and I dont know how hard it was driven or if it was well maintained due to having multiple owners. I have some welding to do on the floor panels, I'm going to replace all of the fluids. I replaced the clutch and since I did all that work. it was alot of damn work too. haha. I'm scared that the engine could die anytime. I currently put in Castrol high mileage fully synthetic and I baby it.
my point is, If I am to enjoy this car, I need an Si engine or so everyone says. I have a 1.8 and a 5 speed transmission.
where can you find an SI engine, do you need an 07 pcm or ecu. whatever its called. and does the transmission need to be upgraded to the 6 speed.
I know obviously to keep my ear to the ground for a lower mileage Si that's being parted out. but Its been months and whenever I see an add the engine is always sold. or no good.
where could I find one and what needs to be swapped along with the engine? how much do they go for.
I'd like to start adding power to this car. and high mileage engines don't like power.
I'd also like to modernize it a bit too. add steering wheel radio controls, change the carpeting and make it look sexy like the outside.
any general info would be appreciated.
Lionel
